Once again, the Maryland Academy of Sciences at the Maryland Science Center will confer Maryland’s Outstanding Young Scientist and Outstanding Young Engineer Awards. The awards honor the exceptional work of young researchers living or working in our state. The Academy initiated the scientist award in 1959 and the engineer award in 1988. One past awardee went on to become a Nobel Laureate.
Nominations are now open for the year 2020 and are due by December 1st, an extended deadline. Winners will be notified the week of January 13, and the awards ceremony will take place at the Maryland Science Center on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Information about the program, eligibility criteria, lists of past winners, and nomination instructions are available on the Maryland Science Center website:
We hope you will identify and nominate one or more young researchers at your institution who are doing excellent work and nominate them for this prestigious honor.
